Sapientiatide
Now we begin the preparation for Christmas in earnest. At Vespers tonight, the First Vespers of the Fourth Sunday of Advent, the first of the great antiphons is said with the Magnificat:"O SAPIENTIA, quae ex ore Altissimi prodiisti, attingens a fine usque ad finem, fortiter suaviterque disponens omnia: veni ad docendum nos viam prudentiae."
What some may not have known is that December 17 is also the first day of special antiphons to be said at the Office of Lauds and throughout the day at the minor Offices.
Finally, today is also a good day to begin a Christmas novena, the last day of the prayer being Christmas itself.

I had never heard of Sapientiatide before -- it's a nice analogue to Passiontide before Easter. In the spirit of the season, I have the following suggestion: everytime you hear a protestant say something about putting "Christ" back in Christmas, point out that they should put the "Mas(s)" back in it too!
