Stamford: Solemn Pontifical High Mass, Feb. 25
Omnibus et praecipue Stanfordensem, Connecticut colentibus: Word has come to us there will be a Solemn Pontifical High Mass at St. Mary's Church, Stamford, on the First Sunday of Lent, February 25, 11:30AM, to be celebrated by Bishop Salvatore Cordileone, auxiliary of San Diego. Bishop Cordileone has been described to us as "one of the very soundest of our bishops". If there is a good turn out for this Mass, it may well send a message to the bishops in the area that the old rite is here to stay and worthy of their patronage. We were also told that the Mass should be "glorious". I hope that it is and we look forward to seeing the pictures!Directions to the church:
To St Mary's:
95 south, exit 8, Elm Street. Left onto Elm Street, church on the left.
95 north, Atlantic Street exit, 8. Elm Street is third right after the stop light at the exit ramp.
I should also say for those interested that there is an indult Missa Cantata at St. Mary's, every Sunday at 11:30AM.

I attended a "Solemn Pontifical High Mass" with Bp Cordileone here in San Diego last Sunday (at Our Lady of the Rosary in Little Italy). It was the Pauline Mass, but in Latin.
Do you know for sure if he'll be celebrating using the old rite?

Is this mass also at 11:30AM?
The Church is just over a mile from the Stamford, CT Metro-North station.
Now if I can just get off work a bit early that Sunday to catch the 10:06 train...
It will be in the Tradional Rite (1962 Missal).
The mass is at 11:30 AM by the way. Bishop Cordileone will also be offfering a Lenten "mission" at St Mary's on Monday through Thursday evenings 2/26-29 from 7;30pm to 8:30pm. St. Mary's is one of the finest and largest Gothic revival churches still remaining in the Bridgeport diocese.
WELL?
Those of us who were not so privileged with this opportunity are on the edges of our collective seats. Er, pews.

I know for sure it will be the Old 1962 Latin Rite. They handed out flyers stating those exact words. I attend Sacred Heart in New Haven, Ct. and Fr. Cipolla from St Mary's Church in Stamford, said the Mass where I attend weekly, this Sunday and informed us of the bishop saying the Mass in Latin and then need for a large outcome. He asked us all to attend. I am going to go and I pray for a large outcome. Thanks for posting this for others to see
Well I attended the Mass today and it was quite memorable. I met the Bishop and had some items blessed by him. A group of us from Sacred Heart in New Haven, Ct went to support The Latin Mass and Fr. Cipolla who says Mass for us regularly. It was wonderful watching the members of both Churches together and supporting each other. A parishoner came over to us and thanked us each individually for coming and shook our hands. Wow does The Holy Ghost move in some awesome ways. it was so worth the 1 hour drive to attend
someone was taking pictures and I asked if she would email them to me. If and when I get them I will post them on my site
